The great Jesuit contemplative teacher, Jean Pierre de Caussade, wrote “God can change all obstacles into aides for spiritual growth.” From the contemplative perspective, the answer to life’s problems is in God. Seeing life as a spiritual journey with a commitment to prayer is a prerequisite for the experience of transforming obstacles.Mini-Retreat Registration Form
On this mini-retreat we will explore how Centering Prayer provides us with the attitudes and practice to see and experience the challenges of life in a new way. Silence, periods of Centering Prayer, and our gathering in community will provide a contemplative context for the day’s teachings by David.
Under the guidance of Thomas Keating, David Frenette has taught Centering Prayer since 1984, including as a trainer for long-term practitioners in Contemplative Outreach. He co-founded and co-led a Centering Prayer retreat community, where he lived a monastic lifestyle for ten years, before returning to express his experience in active live. He now lives with his wife in Colorado, gives spiritual direction at the Center for Contemplative Living in Denver and teaches in the Religious Studies Department at Naropa University. He teaches annual ten-day training retreats on how to deepen Centering Prayer into contemplation at St. Benedict’s Monastery Retreat House and at the Garrison Institute in New York. David has an M.A. in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology.
Please bring a brown bag lunch or there will be time to go out for lunch. Beverages will be provided. Please mail this form or call the Center, 303-698-7729, by Wednesday, October 19. Walk-ins are also welcome. The cost is $40.
