THE GIFT OF YEARS

GROWING OLD GRACEFULLY (Part 3)

BY JOAN CHITTSIER

Spiritual Reading is more than just another good book. It is also a prayer practice that supports Centering Prayer, our Spiritual Journey and contributes to our ongoing transformation. This year we have selected an inspirational book, The Gift of Years: Growing Old Gracefully, by Joan Chittister.

You are invited to come and join us for reading and reflecting on the graces of a lifetime that come into clearer focus with the help of Joan’s insight and wisdom. Each class includes time for spiritual reading, reflection and faith sharing. The class also includes a small booklet, developed by The Center, which provides additional information about spiritual reading as a practice, a suggested Psalm for each chapter of the book and space for journaling.

The class will be offered in 3 separate six week sessions, one each in Fall 2017 (Part 1), Winter 2018 (Part 2) and Spring 2018 (Part 3). Each six week session will cover a specified number of chapters in the book. Although the three sessions will be sequential with regard to the chapters of the book that are covered, the class is designed so that you can choose to attend any one or all of the sessions regardless of whether or not you have attended previous sessions. If the past is any indicator, the best part of this class will be sharing with and listening to the other participants.
