6-DAY CENTERING PRAYER INTENSIVE RETREAT

February 25-March 2, 2010

Snowmass, CO

Cost: $450.00

Facilitator: Nick Cole

Consider giving yourself the GIFT of a silent retreat in the beautiful Colorado Rockies as winter snows form a womb in which to go deep into THE SILENCE. We will arrive at St. Benedict's Monastery Retreat Center 2-5 p.m. on Thursday, February 25. Supper will be served at 5:30 p.m. The retreat will end after breakfast on Tuesday, March 2. This 6-day format (4 full days) will be patterned after the Contemplative Outreach 10-day Intensive retreats held in Snowmass.
The retreat center is less than a mile from the Trappist monastery in a valley of breathtaking beauty 4-5 hours by car fron Denver. There is a shuttle service from the Denver airport to Aspen. There is also commercial air service to Aspen, and retreatants can be picked up at the Aspen airport which is about 30 minutes from the retreat center. The phone number at the retreat center kitchen, 970-927-1377, can be used for contact in the event of an emergency at home. Often retreatants traveling from Denver can arrange to carpool. Staff will facilitate coordinating that process. Weather in February at 8,000 ft. elevation is usually crisp during the day and cold at night. Plan to dress in layers with a warm jacket and sturdy shoes or boots for walking. An "inside" pair of shoes is good to bring for times in the retreat center.
For those on special diets the primary recommendation is to bring what you need. We would like to know as soon as possible so that we can discuss options with you. Staff will do their best to assist with these special needs, but be prepared to supplement the delicious, vegetarian cuisine as required by bringing what you need. Please feel free to bring food for snacks if you wish.
The retreat will be conducted in silence after the opening circle Thursday evening. There will be 3 sessions of centering prayer each day. Each centering prayer session will consist of 3 twenty-minute periods with a meditative walk between each period. Everyone is encouraged to attend all the prayer sessions. Staff will be available for "walks and talks" between 1:30 and 3:00 p.m. each day. There will be DVD's or CD's presented that contribute to the understanding of the spiritual journey. This retreat is designed to accomodate seekers at various places along the transformational journey.
There will be optional, evening meetings for those in 12-step programs with care not to interfere with the silence of the community. The staff, Jenny Adamson, Beth Berkeley, and Nick Cole, have all been active in 12-step programs for many years. Therefore, the retreat offers support to those in 12-step programs.
The retreat center has 4 double rooms and some outlying hermitages (all within a few hundred yards of the center). One of the outlying buildings is called the Gatehouse (about 1/2 mile away). It has 3 small, private rooms all sharing a common bath. The other rooms/hermitages also have a bath shared by the roommates. Room requests are welcomed and honored if at all possible. However, FINAL ASSIGNMENTS OF ROOMS WILL BE MADE UPON ARRIVAL AT THE RETREAT. All rooms are fully equipped with bedding, towels, etc.
Please make all checks payable to Contemplative Outreach of Colorado. To register, send a $50.00 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit to Beth Berkeley, 3550 Capitol Creek Rd., Snowmass, CO 81654. Please include your e-mail address, mailing address, and phone number. An additional $175.00 is due on January 30. The $175.00 is refundable if we are able to fill your place from the wait list. The remaining balance of $225.00 is due upon arrival (total=$450.00). More information may be obtained from Beth Berkeley at bethberkeley@gmail.com or (970) 927-3471.
Hoping to see you in Snowmass.
Beth, Jenny, and Nick
